“If theatre is an illusion of reality then that truism is embedded in the DNA of this respectful production.”

Lotech has a special connection with theatre and has worked with various companies including Indian Ink, Auckland’s Silo Theatre and The Auckland Theatre Company. Using modern video mapping techniques Lotech have brought unique and original designs to some of New Zealand’s leading production companies.

2013 saw Lotech worked alongside US director Jef Hall-Flavin on his interpretation of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. Working closely with award winning set designer John Parker, sound designer Adrian Hollay and lighting director Bonnie Burril, Lotech helped create what the New Zealand Herald called “a dreamscape created by light, sound and video projection.”

Other works lotech has collaborated on include ATC’s 2012 production of Joanna Murray-Smith’s The Gift, Indian Ink’s The Dentists Chair and Silo Theatres 2012 production of Nina Raines Tribes.

Past work

Working closely with Black Grace Director Neil Ieremia, lighting designer Paul Lim, and illustrator Peap Tarr, Lotech developed a set of video backdrops and animations in support of the stage show. We rear-projected the images on to the back of the stage, including some projection mapping, and in the third section the projection played against a full stage sheet of transparent gauze in front of the stage in what the NZ Herald called “a genius piece of AV design”.
